There are two basic approaches to attaching images to email messages: enclosing and embedding. We will talk about email attachments, their types and limitations, primarily concentrating on how to send an HTML email with images. You can find more info, & how to change Google to allow less secure apps, at this Google Support page.Recently we shared helpful tips on creating and designing HTML emails, and today we’d like to focus on the related topic which is really important for email developers. Apparently Google now considers the Windows Mail App a less secure app and therefore blocks it from doing some tasks. Other people experiencing this same exact issue have also had to change a security setting in Google to allow access to less secure apps. You can find the required IMAP config settings at this Google Support page. In the Mail app, click the Settings gear icon -> Manage Accounts -> Add Account -> Other Account (POP, IMAP) So, if you could spare a moment, could you provide additional step-by-step directions as to how you got around this Microsoft mayhem?

and of course at a time when I have some "time-sensitive" stuff to get in / send out. The only work-around I've found was to add the mail account using IMAP settings, rather than adding it using Mail's baked-in Google account option.Īfter adding the Gmail account by manually entering IMAP settings, the Mail app seems to once again pull attachments correctly.įYI: I am having the same problems here. Microsoft needs to figure out what they broke, & issue another update to fix it. Sending people down a System Restore rabbit hole, due to a broken Mail app update, is pretty ludicrous. Microsoft borked their latest release of the Mail app & how it interacts with Gmail. Malware scans, Safe Mode, etc.for a broken Mail app?!?! I've seen people suggesting things like System Restore,

It started happening for everyone within the past few days, as Microsoft released the latest Mail app version. There are various forum posts where others are suddenly dealing with the same issue. Attachments appeared prior to updating the Mail app, after which attachments stopped appearing. Quite literally the ONLY variable that has changed on my machine was updating the Mail app to the most current version. However, those attachments no longer appear in the Windows 10 Mail app. Attachments show up just fine when accessing Gmail via a browser, the Gmail app, or any other email client (iOS Mail, for example).
